Medicinal plants and their uses


Sweet almond oil (Prunus amygdalus var. dulcis)

  • Sweet almond oil aids in combating itching and inflammation.
  • Rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E, it nourishes and protects the skin.
  • It is an excellent moisturizer that is suitable for all skin types.

Comfrey (Symphytum officinalis)

  • Comfrey’s ability to promote healing of bruises, sprains and bone injuries has been asserted for thousands of years.
  • Comfrey contains allantoin, a cell-proliferant that helps repair damaged tissue.

Arnica (Arnica montana)

  • Contains sesquiterpene lactones, flavonoids, and a volatile oil that includes thymol, mucilage and polysaccharides.
  • An effective ointment and compress for bruises, sprains and muscle pain.
  • Arnica improves the local blood supply and accelerates healing.
  • It is anti-inflammatory and increases the rate of reabsorption of internal bleeding.

St John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum)

  • The red oil is an excellent antiseptic.
  • Externally, it is used to relieve cramp and nerve pain.

Calendula (Calendula officinallis)

  • Marigold is antiseptic. Some constituents are antifungal (particulary the resins), antibacterial and antiviral.
  • The herb also astringes the capillaries, an action that explains its effectiveness for cuts, wounds, varicose veins and various inflammatory conditions.
